In April 2016 our Scout Group took out a lease on land adjacent to Feniscliffe Allotments, 5 minutes walk from Church. Canalside has since been developed into a fantastic resource and is regularly used by our own Groups as well as hosting events for the wider community.

Our facilities include:

Backwoods areas with three fire pit areas. (Backwoods Cooking Badge / Survival Skills Badge )

Tomahawk and throwing angel range.

Catapult Range.

Volleyball court and football pitch.

Bug Hunt and Pond Dipping (Naturalist Badge)

In addition we have planted over 600 native trees donated by the Woodland Trust, added a wildlife pond and wildflower seeded large areas. We plan to continue to develop the centre both for young people and wildlife.

Our Supporters:

Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council have allowed us to lease the land from them free
of charge to help us to meet our vision of having an outdoor activity centre for young people in Mill Hill.
Without their support, especially that of Councillor Andy Kay none of this would have been possible.

East Lancs Masonic Charity have very kindly supported the project with a donation of £2151 to purchase our field shelter and composting toilets on site.

Blackburn Round Table have donated £2057 to our Scout and Guide Group in January 2017 following us volunteering at the Borough Bonfire and Round Table Santa Sleigh events. 50% of the funds have gone towards Canalside with the remainder going to our Romanaia Appeal.
Blackburn District Scouts have donated £1000 to pay for equipment costs such as archery equipment along with cash to help us to establish drainage and wildlife pond onsite.
Promethean staff volunteered on site in April 2017 completing a huge amount of work including a new footpath, an allotment area, painting of our field shelter and catapult ranges and tree planting.
