Blackburn Scout Leaders Selected for World Scout Jamboree

Two Blackburn Scout Leaders have been selected to attend the World Scout Jamboree on the International Service Team in 2019.

Emily Delves and Matthew Powell who are leaders at St. George’s Mill Hill Scout Group have been selected following a selection process involving hundreds of leaders from across the UK.

The World Scout Jamboree is Scouting’s Olympics. Virtually every country on the planet send Scouts to represent them every four years for 12 days of adventure and friendship.

The next World Scout Jamboree is being hosted by North America, taking place at the incredible Summit Bechtel Family National Scout Reserve in West Virginia, USA from 22nd July – 2nd August 2019. Uniquely, this purpose built venue is already set up and ready to welcome an expected 50,000 Scouts from across the world.

Matthew said “We are absolutely thrilled to be selected. Our role will be to support Scouts from across the world ensuring they have an amazing experience. I attended the World Scout Jamboree in Sweden in 2011 as a participant and so know first-hand what a life
    changing experience a Jamboree is.”
